UAL Eternal Weekend - June 27/28 - Power 9, Drains and 60+ Dual Lands in Prizes

Welcome to the announcement of the UAL Eternal Weekend, the greatest Eternal weekend in Spain:

When: Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th , June, 2009

That weekend it is going to celebrate one of the biggest Vintage events ever celebrated in the country, and also the biggest Legacy event celebrated by a non-WotC individual. Counting both, we have the greatest Eternal Weekend ever in Spain, or at least that's what we wish it to be. Here you have the data and the dotations of both events:

More prizes are still about to be revealed, but we still have a lot of things to cover. A lot of altered cards from the best Spanish alteration artists are going to be given, for those winning special events or being the best performing player at both events.

A lot of side events are going to take place after the finish of the 4th round of each tournament:

- Winner: 40 Dual Lands

Also Crazy Booster Drafts with Booster Packs from a lot of MTG Sets are going to be celebrated. The exact prices and drafts will be announced the day of the tournament.

Other Activities:

During the duration of the event, any player may be able to have fun in many other activities such as video games, maybe PES, Super Smash Bros, Need for Speed, although not still confirmed which exact games. It's almost guaranteed that we will have a Dance Dance Revolution and a Guiter Hero/Rock Band game.

These activities will all be confirmed in the next weeks.

Other Events:

We are taking special care in making this a very special weekend, and two of the most special "Side Events" taking place this weekend will be the First Spanish Alterators Convention, in which most of the Spanish Alteration Artists will come at our venue, showing his or her works and accepting other works from players and visitors.

The other event will take place just during the Sunday, when 32 of the best Vintage Spanish players will face each other during a hard Vintage swiss battle for the Title of the 1st Vintage All Stars Spanish Champion.

Pre-Registrations:

Pre-Registrations must be sent at ualweekend@gmail.com, with your name and your DCI Number.

If you have any doubt about the tournament you can send it to chapuzas@gmail.com, if possible, in English, and I'll answer it as soon as possible.

How to come here:

By Plane: The best and nearest airport is Madrid's Barajas Airport, which is just a few minutes away, by car, from the venue of the event and the centre of Madrid.

By Car: Paste the address in Google Maps, and then add your address to figure out how to better come here: The Adress: Avda. Olímpica, 14 - Alcobendas, Madrid, Spain

By Train-Cercanías: The Alcobendas- San Sebastian de los Reyes Station is the nearest, and it is about 1000 metres away from the tournament, so try to come with a map and a bit of time.

By Underground: The nearest stations are La Moraleja and Marqués de Valdavia, both at less than 600 metres from the Venue.

Hotels and restaurants:

We are trying to find out, Hotels and Restaurants willing to offer us discount prices. So long we have:

Hotel Grand Prix (Yeah, that's right GP Hotel...) – 53€ Night for people coming to the event. No Side Events are going to take place in the hotel despite his name...xD

And also Hotel Amura - 69€ Night/4 Stars - 10 Minutes away from the event

There are many other hotels in Alcobendes. So Resting shouldn't be a problem.

J'ai deja tenté l'expérience en Legacy (avec 1 BiLand) et au final tu as pas plus de jeune joueurs que d'habitude. ça tourne toujours vers les 3/4 -18ans pour 50 joueurs.

Oue results show that the median of young players increased in the Legacy of events.

The thing is that, this is a very little help for young players, not really impressive, but it's also a very little investment for me. I really think that in big tournaments, like this one, this makes some young players worth coming.

Very good idea, I've never been to Madrid.
I suggest you start selling more movie/theater/sport events tickets to save some money for the trip.  :mrgreen:

Hello everyone!

In an attemp for making easier (And cheaper! :D) coming to the UAL ETERNAL WEEKEND and participating in this big event in Spain some ideas have been debated.

Byes are not the way to go, as we would like everyone to participate in the same conditions. In the end, we discussed about the main reasons for traveling to an event, and money along with prizes were the most important.

That's why we have taken a decission in order to encourage players from Europe and all the world to participate. We will be giving away some free registrations fees for each country.

- How can you obtain a free registration fee?

For Players - You have to play and win one of the events awarded with the Free Registration Fee. Those events will be announced as soon as organizers contact me and I confirm that they can award the winner with a Free Regitration Fee to both events of the UAL Eternal Weekend. No matter which format you win, you'll get a FRF for both events. That's 45€!!

For organizers - You must pay nothing for giving the FRF, it's also free for you, just an additional prize for your players. What you must do is just organize a 32+ players Legacy or Vintage event. It doesn't matter if you just create a new tournament or you were running it anyway. The mnimum requirements of the tournament are as follows:

- Assistance prevision of +32 Players.
- Tournament taking place between may 15th and june 14th.
- Eternal Event (Proxied or Unproxied, it doesn't matter)
- Top8 results of that event must be posted at TheManaDrain, Morphling and/or Deckcheck.net.

If your tournament currently mantains this data you can contact me in chapuzas@gmail.com. I will contrast every option and handle the FRF as soon as possible, take into account that there are limited FRF and we want to handle it to different points of a same country, diferent days and, if possible, different formats. What we ask organizers awarded a FRF is just to give as much info about our tournament as possible in the tournament place, announcenment in Internet and the like... That's just what we ask for.

The limitation of FRF for country is very similar to that of awarding a national spot for ranking by the DCI system. We are also taking into account the proximity to Spain and the importance of Eternal in each country:

Countries with 3 FRF - Italy, France, Germany, United States and Japan.
Countries with 2 FRF - Canada, Great Britain and Netherlands.
Countries with 1 FRF - All other countries (excluding Spain).

Also I want to remember to any player that you can pre-registrate to UAL Eternal Weekend in ualweekend@gmail.com with your name and DCI.

We want to know what people think about this idea, feedback on our methods will be highly appreciated.
